Local author Mara Montebrusco-Gaspari has published her children's novel "Igor and the Secret of the 7 Lives" in French and Luxembourgish in 2011/2012, and this year will see the English translation published by Editions Phi, with the exact date to be confirmed.
The English version of Igor has already been published as an e-book (with Amazon Kindle publishing) but this will be the first time that the English-language version of her book will be published in print.
The book was also to have been made into an animated film but this project has been put on hold due to the closure of Luxanimation in 2012. She is currently in discussion with a new producer...
Editions Phi will also publish this year another novel of hers, the title will most likely be "Tchip le chien de chasse", the story of a special dog that helps the animals of the forest to escape hunters. It is to be published in French and will be translated into Luxembourgish too.
Another project of Mara's, her illustrated album "La sorcière d'Opale", is the story of a kind Witch, her siamese cat and of a young boy from Afghanistan. The story is about escaping war, refugies and agaisnt racism. It will also be re-published by Demdel éditons, a Belgian publisher, later this year.
She also wrote a novel in collaboration with 2 other authors, "Les vagues de l'enfer - le secret de Mathilda", which was self-published with Books on Demand (BoD) last year. The particularity of this novel is that the three authors only knew each other through Facebook and wrote the novel (each of them wrote 5 pages at a time) using a secret group where they debated and published the Word document to make it available to the othertwo authors each time one of them finished writing her 5 pages. The storyline starts like a crime fiction, then becames a fantasy novel and finishes like a fairy tale...
