On Tuesday 10 June 2025, the Luxembourg Tennis Federation (FLT) announced the appointment of Lionel Ollinger as its first-ever General Director.

53-year-old Lionel Ollinger is set to assume the role at the beginning of September 2025.

In a statement to Chronicle.lu, FLT President Claude Lamberty described the appointment of Lionel Ollinger as a milestone for the federation, which, despite being the second largest in Luxembourg, has until now relied entirely on volunteers. With the support of the Ministry of Sports, FLT was able to create a full-time General Director position following a rigorous eight-month selection process. “We are very proud to be one of the first federations involved in this process,” Claude Lamberty said.

Lionel Ollinger currently serves as General Director of the FC Metz Stadium and has held several volunteer elected positions within French tennis over the years, including President of the Ligue du Grand Est since 2013 and Vice-President of the French Tennis Federation since 2021. In the latter capacity, he is responsible for major events such as Roland Garros and the Paris Masters 1000, as well as for international relations.

The FLT's newly appointed General Director has outlined three key priorities: closer cooperation with clubs, talent development and strengthening national teams. “The main goal, because I'm the first CEO of the federation, is to cooperate with 53 clubs here in Luxembourg. We need to meet each club to listen to what their needs are,” he said, adding that ongoing communication and creating regular touchpoints between coaches and club presidents would be a priority.

Hosting an international tournament is also high on the agenda: “We need to have maybe an ATP or a WTA tournament here in the country. It's very important to give the good feelings to the young people,”  Lionel Ollinger told Chronicle.luAs for national representation, Ollinger expressed confidence: “We have a very good men's team, but we need to be better concerning the women… and I feel very optimistic about that.”
