Luxembourg's employment agency, ADEM, has published the latest unemployment figures for the Grand Duchy.
At the end of July 2016, the total number of people registered as unemployed stood at 16,636 (up from 15,955 at the end of June) which represents a 5.1% fall in 12 months, i.e. a reduction in 902 individuals.
The current unemployment rate has fallen from 6.5%, to 6.4%, 0.5 below the rate from July 2015.
In July 2016, 1,750 new people registered at ADEM (185 less than the corresponding period 12 months ago), with the number claiming unemployment benefits at 6,751 (394 below that of July 2015). At the end of July 2016, 5,171 people benefitted from an employment measure (i.e. part of their salary was paid by ADEM), representing a drop of 6.0% compared to June 2015.
