Following the news published on 23 December that Dupont de Nemours in Contern would need to reduce its staff by 30-40 as a result of the merger between Dow Chemical and DuPont de Nemours, the LCGB trade union today stated that no staff members will involuntarily lose their jobs.

Although Contern staff numbers will reduce by around 30 as part of the company's worldwide restructuring and cost reductions programme, this will be achieved by retirements and reassigning some positions by way of a job retention plan - discussions are taking place with other industrial companies.

Around half of the personnel savings have already been achieved, with the remainder to happen by June.

The next meeting between unions, managament and staff is scheduled for 21 January.
