The Agence pour le développement de l'emploi (ADEM) today released the unemployment rate for the month of November 2015, which at 6.7% revealed a 3.5% decrease over one year (when the unemployment rate stood at 7.1%) but an increase of 115 people compared with the previous month (when the unemployment rate sttod at 6.8%).
On 30 November 2015, the number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 17,645, indicating 633 fewer people in one year, a drop of 3.5%. The number of job seekers stood at around the same level as in 2013, when it amounted to 17,967 for the same date.
While the number of under-30s registered as unemployed has dropped by 9.4% over the past 12 months, the number of over-50s has risen by 0.6% over that period.
The number of job seekers who have been registered with ADEM for longer than a year also fell, by 0.5% compared to November 2014. In November of this year, 1,938 people registered with ADEM, 228 less than the previous month and 487 less than in November 2014.
The unemployment rate stood at 6.7%, meaning it has fallen 0.1% compared to November 2014, and the same amount with regards to October 2015, when it was 6.8%.
In late November 2015, 6,880 people were entitiled to claim unemployment benefit - down from 7,287 just 12 months ago - and 5,441 people were allocated an employment measure, revealing an increase of 193 people or 3.7% compared with November 2014. In November of this year, employers reported 2,242 vacant posts with ADEM, marking a growth of 13.5% as was found in November 2014.
