Sweden's Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest for a second time at this year's extravagant grand final in Liverpool in the United Kingdom on Saturday 13 May 2023.

26 acts battled it out on Saturday evening in a show full of eccentric and colourful performances. Guest performers also paid tribute to various Liverpool artists (in the form of the "Liverpool Songbook"), as well as to last year's Eurovision Song Contest winners Ukraine, who could not host this year due to the war.

Loreen, whose song "Euphoria" won the contest back in 2012, quickly emerged as the jury's favourite on Saturday evening, with her song "Tattoo" leading with 340 points before the public vote was announced. Finland's Käärijä emerged as the top challenger, with his entry "Cha Cha Cha" gaining over 300 points from the public vote (526 points in total). Nevertheless, it was ultimately Sweden who emerged victorious, ending on a total of 583 points.

Israel (362) and Italy (350) finished in third and fourth place, respectively. Norway, which proved more popular with the public than with the national juries, finished in fifth place overall, with 268 points.

Last year's winners Ukraine finished in sixth place, with 243 points, whilst 2022 runners-up the United Kingdom, who hosted this year's contest on behalf of Ukraine, finished second last (24 points). Germany came last, with 18 points.

Sweden's seventh victory (which equals Ireland's record) comes ahead of the 50th anniversary of ABBA's 1974 Eurovision victory with "Waterloo".

Changes to the voting system this year included the introduction of the "Rest of World" vote (people from non-participating countries could vote for the first time) and the exclusive use of the public vote to determine the qualifiers from the semi-finals; the jury votes from each participating country were counted only in the grand final.

This year's Eurovision Song Contest was also the occasion to announce the news of Luxembourg's planned return to the contest after 30 years. Note that despite its long absence, Luxembourg has won Eurovision five times to date.
