The Grand Ducal Police have reported on a number of traffic accidents and alcohol-related incidents which occurred across Luxembourg during the night of Monday 8 September through to the early hours of Tuesday 9 September 2025.

According to initial reports, the police received an increased number of reports about problems on the roads due to the weather conditions. The majority of these concerned water or obstacles on the roads.

The police also recorded several minor accidents in which drivers lost control of their vehicles. In most cases, these incidents caused only material damage.

Firstly, following an accident on the A1 at around 23:20, the driver was sent to hospital for a check-up.

Then, at approximately 01:30, an accident occurred near the Serra roundabout in Luxembourg, where a car collided with a traffic sign and then with a safety barrier. The driver was taken to hospital for medical attention. An initial alcohol test returned a positive result.

The police also recorded three further accidents in which the drivers were found to be under the influence of alcohol.

At approximately 23:00, an accident occurred near Meysembourg, where a car slid into a ditch. The uninjured driver was later located at his home, where officers determined that he had consumed a significant amount of alcohol. His driving licence was confiscated and a report was submitted.

At around 00:30 on Route d’Arlon in Strassen, a car collided with a parked vehicle and then drove off. Shortly afterwards, a police patrol located the vehicle involved in the accident in a car park and found a person on foot nearby. Police confirmed that the individual was the intoxicated driver and a report was submitted to the public prosecutor.

Moreover, at around 06:15, a car crashed on the N12 between Emeschbach and Stockem after the driver lost control on a bend. The vehicle left the road and overturned. Neither the driver nor the passenger was injured. Police confirmed that the driver, who was already subject to a driving ban, had been under the influence of alcohol. A report was submitted to the public prosecutor.
