On Tuesday 20 May 2025, Luxembourg insurance company Foyer SA announced its decision to partner with French car recycling firm GPA, making it the first insurer in Luxembourg to offer its customers reused car parts for the repair of damaged vehicles.

The partnership also marks a milestone for GPA - a specialist in car recycling - as the company expands internationally for the first time. Foyer reported that through the agreement, GPA will reprocess total loss vehicles from Luxembourg at its site in Livron-sur-Drôme, France, with a new, closer facility in Pont-Sainte-Maxence opening soon.

According to Foyer, the parts recovered from the vehicles by GPA will be used to repair vehicles insured by Foyer, creating a sustainable and circular system. In addition, Foyer has gained access to GPA’s entire catalogue of available parts, allowing it to offer a variety of repair solutions to its customers.

Foyer reported that by integrating this initiative into its service offering, it “reinforces its commitment to making sustainability a central part of its business strategy, in line with its social ambitions”. The company noted that reused parts can reduce its carbon footprint by nearly 80% compared to new parts, helping make vehicle repairs quicker, more sustainable and more cost-effective.

Foyer emphasised that this collaboration also responds to a growing concern among its customers about being able to repair their vehicles more responsibly. The firm also stated that the reused parts will be backed by a lifetime guarantee, subject to conditions.

Director of Claims and Customer Service, Foyer SA, Réjane Pepek, said: “We are extremely proud to be the first in Luxembourg to offer this sustainable alternative to our policyholders. This partnership with GPA was born out of a meeting shaped by our shared values and forward-looking vision.” She added: “It is a practical initiative in favour of sustainability, allowing our customers to benefit from quality repairs, cost control and a reduced environmental impact.”

Chairman and CEO at Groupe GPA, Johan Renaud, stated: “GPA is particularly proud of this partnership with Foyer, which introduces reused car parts to the Luxembourg market for the first time. This collaboration also marks our first step beyond the French market.” He added: “We are delighted to make this vision a reality with Foyer, as our two companies share many values and a common approach to development.”
