Luxembourg's Ministry of Mobility and Public Works has warned of fraudulent emails regarding the issuance of car insurance certificates (i.e. the "green card") in electronic format.
Since 1 January 2026, insurers in the Grand Duchy have been able to issue the car insurance certificate in PDF format, in addition to the traditional paper version.
Fraudulent emails are currently circulating, urging recipients to click on a link to order an electronic insurance card for a supposed processing fee. The ministry urged the public not to reply to the email, click on any links, open attachments or provide personal or financial information. Recipients should instead ignore and delete such emails.
As a reminder, the issuance of the car insurance certificate is free of charge and carried out exclusively by the insurer.
