HITEC Luxembourg, a multi-disciplined engineering company established in Mamer, is celebrating its 35th anniversary.

To mark the occasion, Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, visited HITEC Luxembourg on Friday 5 February 2021.

When it was founded in 1986, the main activity of the company was to develop physical measuring instruments for the rubber industry and to automate production machines. In 35 years of activity, HITEC Luxembourg has considerably extended its field of activities and today offers solutions based on advanced technologies in several fields of activity: terrestrial equipment for satellites, specific equipment or adapted to standards for measurement of physical properties, engineering, consulting, software development and project management.

Currently employing more than 50 people, HITEC Luxembourg collaborates with the Luxembourg government through various projects. The company is particularly strongly involved in several programmes of the European Space Agency (ESA) as well as in the national space programne LuxIMPULSE. The company is also one of the private partners of the Emergency.lu programne, which is a mobile satellite telecommunications platform created to restore communication after a natural disaster, support the coordination efforts of humanitarian organisations in the field and help save lives in humanitarian emergencies.

After a presentation of HITEC Luxembourg and an exchange of views with its managers, the Economy Minister attended a demonstration of the company's terrestrial equipment for satellites. He later met with the leaders of Earthlab, a startup founded in 2015 of which HITEC Luxembourg is one of the founding shareholders. EarthLab develops innovative solutions combining big data and earth observation technologies to develop applications in the insurance, finance, agriculture, security and transport sectors.

At the end of his visit, Minister Franz Fayot stated: “In the space of 35 years, HITEC Luxembourg has forged a solid reputation nationally and internationally. Over the years, the company has acquired rich technological expertise in the space sector and in the information and communication technology sector. This "Made in Luxembourg" know-how contributes to Luxembourg's influence abroad".

Yves Elsen, CEO of HITEC Luxembourg, added: “The management and staff of HITEC Luxembourg were particularly honoured to welcome the Minister of the Economy on [our] 35th anniversary. Since the beginning in a garage in Junglinster, HITEC Luxembourg has constantly demonstrated development and innovation. The Minister was able to discover in detail our various test equipment, our projects in space and on the road and our products for the most critical situations in the world when it comes to re-establishing satellite communication".
