The LCGB trade union has confirmed the decision of IBM Luxembourg to lay off 38 employees.
Following IBM Luxembourg's decision to start negotiations for a social plan, the staff delegation called on the LCGB to support and accompany them in the negotiations. IBM Luxembourg currently employs 313 people and has decided to cut 38 jobs.
The software company cited the reduction of operating costs and the transformation of their service offering through greater automation as the reasons for this decision.
Both the staff delegation and the LCGB have denounced this decision, which they maintain is not linked to the COVID-19 crisis, but simply to a reduction in costs.
The LCGB confirmed that it will, together with the staff delegation, defend job retention and favourable compensation in the interest of the employees concerned, through constructive social dialogue.
