The Luxembourg government has accepted the nomination by the Minister of Finance, Pierre Gramegna, of Claude Marx as Director General, and Françoise Kauthen-Hennico as Director, of Luxembourg's financial regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF).
Claude Marx will replace Jean Guill on 5 February 2016 following the latter's reirement. Françoise Kauthen-Hennico will take over from Andrée Billon on 22 January 2016, also due to retirement.
The choices were made from thirty applications submitted following a call for applications, launched in August 2015.
Claude Marx, a Luxembourg national, was Managing Director of Lombard International Assurance SA from 2012 to 2015. He began his career in 1990 as a lawyer at court and a tax advisor, before joining Safra Republic Holdings SA in 1994 as secretary general. He was then deputy general manager of HSBC Private Bank (Luxembourg) SA from 2000 to 2011. Claude Marx holds a Master of Law from the University of Paris II and a "LLM in International Business Law" from the University of London.
Françoise Kauthen-Hennico, a Luxembourg national, is senior advisor and chief of the monitoring service of the securities markets at the CSSF. She began her career in 1989 at the Stock Exchange (Société de la Bourse de Luxembourg SA) before joining the CSSF in 2003. Françoise Kauthen-Hennico holds an MA in Economics from the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg.
