The Luxembourg Golf Federation (FLG) has announced that the 2024 European Senior Men’s and Ladies’ Championships will take place from Thursday 13 to Saturday 15 June 2024 at the Kikuoka Country Club.
The European Golf Association (EGA) has awarded Luxembourg the organisation of this European event, even though the Grand Duchy has not hosted an international golf tournament of this level for many years. The event will bring together 90 top-ranked European amateur players over 50 and the 54 best European female players in the same age category. Around thirty countries will be represented and the level of golf will reportedly be the “best amateur level possible”, very close to the professional level, since the majority of players have a handicap close to zero or even below zero, FLG noted.
FLG chose the Kikuoka Country Club in Canach as the event’s host, with its internationally renowned championship course and its hotel allowing some of the players to stay, the others staying at the Alvisse Parc Hotel, a partner of the event.
More than fifty volunteers signed up for the event as soon as the awarding of the European Senior Men’s and Ladies’ Championships to Luxembourg was announced, the FLG added. Officials from the Federation, the EGA, the Kikuoka teams and especially the players also showed great “enthusiasm” for the upcoming event, the FLG concluded.
The event is open to the public and access is free.
