On Wednesday 15 July 2026, Luxembourg champions FC Atert Bissen saw their UEFA Champions League campaign come to an end after losing 2-1 to Faroese champions KÍ Klaksvík at the Stade de Luxembourg in front of 2,072 spectators.

Trailing 1-2 from the first leg, FC Atert Bissen head coach Pedro Garcia made two changes to his starting line-up, with Brian Silva and Tyron Crame replacing Zakaria Louriz and Reda Eddarraj.

The visitors threatened inside the opening two minutes when midfielder Jóannes Danielsen tested Yassine Gourari-Tebaa from the edge of the penalty area, but the Bissen goalkeeper produced a comfortable save. The Luxembourg champions responded immediately with a swift counterattack, only for Tyron Crame to send his low effort wide of the far post from around eleven metres.

Bissen created another promising opportunity in the seventh minute as Khalid Abi raced through on goal, but KÍ Klaksvík goalkeeper Mark Jensen reacted quickly to deny the forward. Two minutes later, the hosts were forced into an early substitution after Tiago Rodrigues Da Costa picked up an injury, with Lenny Correia coming on in his place.

KÍ Klaksvík broke the deadlock in the tenth minute through Árni Frederiksberg, who surprised Gourari-Tebaa with a remarkable long-range strike from around thirty metres to put the Faroese champions 1-0 ahead on the night.

Bissen looked for an immediate response, while the visitors remained dangerous on the counterattack. Jean Carlos came close to doubling the lead in the 20th minute after cutting into the penalty area from the left, but his effort flew over the crossbar following a slight deflection.

The equaliser eventually arrived in the 25th minute after sustained pressure around the visitors' penalty area. The ball fell to captain Roman Ferber, who calmly slotted past Mark Jensen to level the score at 1-1.

Hallur Hansson received the first yellow card of the match three minutes later for a late challenge, while both sides continued to search for another breakthrough before the interval. Tyron Crame tested Mark Jensen from close range in the 39th minute, only to see his effort saved, before Jean Carlos narrowly missed the far post with a long-range attempt at the other end.

Despite a handful of further half-chances, the teams went into the break level at 1-1.

KÍ Klaksvík again started the stronger after the restart and restored their lead in the 59th minute. Following an Árni Frederiksberg corner, captain Páll Klettskarð rose highest to head the ball into the net, making it 2-1 on the night.

Pedro Garcia responded immediately with a double substitution, introducing Lucas Correia and Joel Rodrigues Da Cruz in place of Tyron Crame and Khalid Abi. Bissen enjoyed more possession in the closing stages and looked to build pressure through crosses into the penalty area, but the Faroese defence dealt comfortably with most deliveries. Their best opportunity came in the 68th minute when Diogo Pimentel struck a powerful effort from around twenty metres, although his shot flew wide of the target.

Roman Ferber was shown a yellow card for a foul in the 74th minute as the match became increasingly physical, with referee Igor Stojchevski of North Macedonia forced to halt play on several occasions.

Bissen continued to push forward during the final fifteen minutes, relying mainly on aerial deliveries into the box in search of an equaliser. However, KÍ Klaksvík almost extended their advantage in stoppage time when Páll Klettskarð broke through one-on-one with Yassine Gourari-Tebaa, only for the Bissen goalkeeper to produce an excellent save.

At the other end, Reda Eddarraj tested Mark Jensen with a long-range effort before Joel Rodrigues Da Cruz was unable to convert from a tight angle after being played through by Lucas Correia. The score remained unchanged as KÍ Klaksvík secured a 2-1 victory on the night and progressed 4-2 on aggregate.

"This is the Champions League. Every mistake is punished," Bissen captain Roman Ferber said after the match. "Today, I'm simply disappointed to be out of the competition."

FC Atert Bissen now continue their European campaign in the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round, where they will face Hungarian side Győri ETO FC. The first leg is scheduled to take place in Luxembourg on Thursday 23 July 2026.
