On Tuesday 13 October 2020, Luxembourg's international men's football team secured an away win against Montenegro in the UEFA Nations League, League C Group 1.

Played at the Gradski Stadion in Podgorica, the country's capital, the home side opened the scoring with a goal from Ivanović in the 34th minute. On the left wing, Hakšabanović rolled the ball to his captain, Jovetić, who floated the ball into the danger zone where Ivanović towered above the Luxembourg defence to plant a powerful header into the bottom corner of the goal.

E. Muratovic equalised for the Red Lions just three minutes before the break, to leave the sides level at half-time. Unchallenged, Michel Pinto crossed the ball to Muratovic who was given plenty of time to take a touch and choose his spot before steering it past the keeper to level the score.

In the second half, Daniel Sinani scored with just 4 minutes left on the clock, for Luxembourg to record a famous away win. Inside the opposition's penalty area, he pushed the ball onto his left foot and steered it past the sprawling keeper for Luxembourg to take the lead for the first time in the match.

The match was marred by three late sendings-off in time added on following an altercation, with Janković and Simić (for a second yellow card) dismissed for the home team and O. Thill receiving a red card for the visitors.

Both teams had 13 shots during the game, with Luxembourg having 5 corners to just 2 for the home side. Possession was almost equal, with Montenegro having 51%. In addition to 2 red cards for the home side and one for the visitors, Montenegro also picked up 6 yellow cards to Luxembourgourg's one.

In thre evening's other group match, Azerbaijan earned their first point of their campaign with a 0-0 hiome draw with Cyprus. Lying second in the group coming into the game, Luxembourg leapfrogged Montenegro to head the group.

Luxembourg's next game in the UEFA Nations League, League C Group 1, is away to Cyprus on 14 November, with their next game at home to Azerbaijan on 17 November.
