Following Wednesday's 1-2 loss at home to Lichtenstein, yesterday (Saturday 10 October) saw Luxembourg's Red Lions record a 2-0 home win over Cyprus in the UEFA Nations League, League C Group 1 match.

Played at the Stade Josy Barthel in Luxembourg-ville, the match was settled by two first-half goals scored by Sinani, who also had a third goal ruled out for offside. Despite having just 45% possession, Luxembourg could have had more goals, and Cyprus also hit the woodwork at the end of the second half. Both teams picked up two yellow cards each.

In what was Luxembourg's first clean sheet in 17 games, with both teams having 13 shots each during the game, Luxembourg now have 6 points from 3 games.

In the same group yesterday, Montenegro recorded a 2-0 home win over Azerbaijan, leaving them top of the group with nine points, ahead of Luxembourg in second place on 6 points, with Azerbaijan on 3 and Cyprus on 0.
