On Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 August 2020, three of Luxembourg's football teams were playing in the 1st qualifying round of the 2020-21 UEFA Europa League, with just Progrès Niederkorn surviving.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these preliminary games (at least) are being played as a one-legged affair, unlike in previous seasons.

Progrès Niederkorn hosted Zeta from Montenegro in the first qualifying round fplayed at the Stade Municipal de Differdange, winning 3-0 on the evening.

Tekiela opened the scoring on 11 minutes, with the score 1-0 at half-time. In the second half, Tekiela scored his second of the evening, from the penalty spot after being fouled by Zeta's Vukcevic, before S. Thill made sure of the victory with the last goal of the game, straight from a free kick, two minutes into added time at the end of the second half.

On Thursday evening, Union Titus Petange played away against Lincoln Red Imps (Gibraltar) and lost 2-0 away. They went behind in the 36th minute to a goal from Lee Casciaro and also conceded a second in the 5th minute of injury time scored by Mustapha Yahaya.

Also played on Thursday evening, FC Differdange were playing away against Zrinjski in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They were 2-0 down at half-time following goals from Nemanja Bilbija and Milos Filipovic who both scored in the last 10 minutes of the first half, and then from substitute Josep Ivancic who scored the home team's third just ten minutes from the end, to leave the final score 3-0 to Zrinjski.
