On Weddnesday 19 Augusut 2020, CS Fola from Esch-sur-Alzette played their UEFA Champions League 2020/21 Qualifying round 1 match away to FC Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova.

This season's matches, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are being played on a single game basis, not over two legs are is normally the case.

The match, played in a balmy 25C evening, ended 2-0 to the home team thanks to a goal in each half from Abang (36 mins) and Lukić (80 mins). While Sheriff had a total of 15 shots on goal, with 5 on target, Fola had their own fair share of chance, with 10 shots on goal throughout the match, of which 4 were on target. They also had 4 corners. They did pick up 4 yellow cards, however, to one from the Moldovan champions. 

CS Fola were elected Luxembourg champions when the league was suspended mid-March due to the COVIDD-19 pandemic and the Luxembourg football association decided to use current standings as the final standings.
