Luxembourg's Government Council today approved new financial aid for the self-employed in the context of the ongoign COVID-19 crisis.
This one-off, non-repayable financial assistance is aimed at further supporting independents and freelancers who have been suffered financially as a result of the pandemic.
The amount of the new aid varies according to the contributory income bracket in which the individual is located, ranging from €3,000, €3,500 and €4,000. This assistance is intended for those who have the status of self-employed as a main function, who are affiliated as such to social security and whose professional income is at least equal to or greater than one-third of the minimum social wage but not more than two and a half times the social minimum wage.
Luxembourg's Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Lex Delles, stated: "The self-employed, who have the courage to undertake and represent an essential link in our economy, are strongly affected by the current crisis. It is essential to strengthen support for the self-employed in order to help them get through this difficult period. This is the reason why a new non-repayable aid for the self-employed will be put in place”.
The bill to introduce new financial assistance for the self-employed will be tabled in the Chamber of Deputies as soon as possible.
