The Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques (Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma) recently announced the nominations for the 48th César Awards, including two Luxembourg co-productions.
"Little Nicholas - Happy as Can Be" (Le Petit Nicolas - Qu'est-ce qu'on attend pour être heureux ?) and "Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia" (Ernest et Célestine : le voyage en Charabie) feature among the 2023 César nominations for "Best Animated Film".
"Little Nicholas", based on the work of René Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempé, is co-produced by Lilian Eche and Christel Henon (Bidibul Productions) and directed by Amandine Fredon and Benjamin Massoubre.
"Ernest and Celestine" is co-produced by Stéphan Roelants (Mélusine Productions) and directed by Julien Chheng and Jean-Christophe Roger.
The 48th César Awards ceremony will take place on Friday 24 February 2023 on the Olympia stage in Paris.
To date, Luxembourg has secured nineteen nominations and three César Awards: in 2013, "Ernest and Celestine" (Mélusine Productions) won "Best Animated Film"; in 2021, "Deux" (Tarantula Luxembourg) won "Best First Feature Film"; in 2022, "The Summit of the Gods" (Le Sommet des Dieux - Mélusine Productions) won "Best Animated Film".
