On Monday 1 October 2018, Guy Daleiden, Director of the National Fund for Audiovisual Production, and Jean-Louis Scheffen, Chairman of the Fund Selection Committee, presented their results and activity reports for 2017.

A total of €30,108,292 of selective financial aid was granted last year, including €1,512,780 for writing and / or development assistance (including 1 virtual reality project and one transmedia project) and €26,980,012 for support for production (including 1 virtual reality project). CineWorld production aids were awarded for a total amount of €1,615,500.

The Fund also granted € 06,213 in promotion grants and €98,426 in subsidies to the sector. 10 grants were granted to authors for an amount of €97,500.

As part of its promotional mission, the Fund has had a presence in various markets and international fora and participated in economic prospecting missions.

Three new co-production agreements have been signed by the Luxembourg government (with Canada and China and also the revised European Council of Europe Convention on Cinematographic Co-production). These agreements aim to promote the development of cinematographic co-productions between Luxembourg and its foreign partners.

In the framework of the partnership with RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg, the first episodes of the sitcom entitled Zemmer ze verlounen have been broadcast on the small screen since 11 September.

In the field of new media and, in particular that of virtual and augmented reality and transmedia, the Fund has continued its efforts by supporting such initiatives as the movie Fan Club co-produced by a_BAHN and by going to dedicated markets to deepen all the possibilities that producers offer for the development and production of future-oriented projects.

"With 6 films currently being filmed, 12 animated films in studio production and just as much work in post-production, we can say that the audiovisual production sector is active. Since the start of the school year, we have been able to discover films produced by us in the cinemas of the Grand Duchy, such as Meng Kollegen aus dem All and The Breadwinner. We are also looking forward to the film Superjhemp retörns which will be released on 24 October" said Guy Daleiden.
