The Ville de Luxembourg has announced details of this year's national day festivities taking place on Saturday 22 June and Sunday 23 June 2019.

Saturday 22 June

The festivities around the anniversary of the Grand Duke will start on the eve of the national holiday on Saturday 22 June by the traditional changing of the guard in front of the Grand Ducal palace at 16:00. At 21:20, the traditional torchlit procession will take place - the procession will leave from the Puits Rouge on the Grand Rue and will then pass by the rue du Fossé, Rue Notre Dame, the rue de l’Ancien Athénée towards Boulevard F. D. Roosevelt, then by the pont Viaduc to end in the Avenue de la Gare (groups on foot and in motorised vehicles to rue Origer. The grand-ducal grandstand will be located at Bld F. D. Roosevelt Boulevard (corner of Boulevard Roosevelt / Rue de la Congregation).

The torchlit parade will be followed by a 17-minute fireworks display from the Pont Adolphe at 23:00, accompanied by music from the Musique Militaire Grand Ducale, with numerous concerts in the various squares of the capital, as follows:

In addition, the Place d'Armes (Pless), the Plateau and the rue du Saint Esprit, la Corniche, the Place de la Constitution, the Place du Theatre, the Place Auguste Engel (Grund), the Place des Bains, the Place du Strasbourg and Grand Rue (corner of Rue des Capucins, Um Piquet ...) will also host various Luxembourgish and international music groups until late into the night.

Sunday 23 June

The official programme of the national holiday will begin on Sunday 23 June at 10:00 with an official ceremony atthe Philharmonie in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, followed by a 21 cannon shot in honour of the Grand Duke at Fetschenhof at 11:00. The traditional parade and military parade will then take place in Kirchberg along Avenue John F. Kennedy, at the intersection of rue des Coquelicots, starting at 12:00. The Te Deum will take place at 16:30 at the Notre-Dame Cathedral, in the presence of members of the Grand Ducal family.

The Place d'Armes will also host musicians on National Day, wth the saxophone quartet "Saxitude" to perform 4 times during the afternoon: 13:00 - 14:00, 15:30 - 16:00, 17:00 - 18:00 and 19:30 - 20:30.

The other bands that will perform on the national day on the Place d'Armes are "Son de Lux" (14:00 - 15:30), "Garnisounsmusék" (16:00 - 17:00), "Cluttered Clarity" (18:00 - 19:30)  and "Zylvester Orchester" (20:30 - 22:00).
