Another year, another edition of Rock-A-Field; today, the field at Herchesfeld in Roeser was being prepped to host the two-day festival which opens for campers tomorrow Friday 8 July 2016 at 14:00.
The weather forecast for the festival taking place from 9-10 July 2016 promises 25C and sun, allowing the preparations for the festival to run smoothly. The organiser of the festival, Den Atelier, has expressed that this is the perfect temperature for attending a festival, as it is not too hot. Nevertheless, there will still be free drinking water available on the festival site, in the food village and on the camp site for festival-goers to stay hydrated.
This year the organisers have expanded the “Kinky Food Village” introduced to the festival last year, adding a lounge area with hammocks and more food trucks. On the menu can be found curry, sushi, raw food and bagels among others. Additionally, the beach stage has been redone and will be located in between the two main stages playing live music and allowing for some shade from the burning sun.
The best news is perhaps that the organiser has invested in vacuum toilets for this year’s edition of Rock-A-Field. The vacuum toilets are more expensive – but they are cleaner, do not emit odours and produce less waste and are thus much better for the environment. Visiting the toilet at the festival will no longer be a dreadful experience.
For football fans, the best news are that the final of the European Cup 2016 will be displayed on the Bofferding stage on Sunday 10 July 2016 at 21:00.
Rock-A-Field has downsized this year in comparison to last year, as it is one day shorter. Den Atelier emphasised that their wish is for the festival to become more and more cosy and intimate, which is why they have added the beach stage, the food village and the lounge area, allowing people to relax as well as enjoy the music. Their aim is for Rock-A-Field to bear resemblance to a boutique festival, focusing more on the festival goer’s experience than the industry. This also entails a bigger focus on local hip-hop artists who will be performing on the Bofferding stage.
For camping ticket owners there will be an exclusive warm-up night starting Friday 8 July 2016 at 19:00 with DJ dr.gonZo spinning groovy reggae tunes to enforce the festival vibes.
Like in the previous years, there will be a cash dispenser, a mobile phone charging station and Wi-Fi spots on the festival site. Naturally, there will be 24-hour security present and an advanced first aid center.
The festival site is accessible by train to Bettembourg station. From the station, a free shuttle bus will take ticket-holders to the festival site. The shuttle buses will be going back and forth from the station and to the site all day. Public transport to the festival site is free for people who have purchased a RAF ticket. Rock-A-Field will not be accessible by car, but a special RAF car park has been set up five minutes away. Take the exit Dudelange-Centre on the A3 (Luxembourg - Metz) and follow the RAF car park signs. Parking will cost a flat rate of €15 per car for the duration of the festival (including the shuttle ride to the RAF).
