On Saturday 25 June 2016, the youth commission of the municipality of Pétange will be inviting all young people and their families to join the now-tradition Open Air festival unfolding shortly before the start of the summer holidays.
It has now been several years since the commission was given the task of organising a free festival in the southern Luxembourgish town and the 2016 edition will again be providing a varied programme.
The Open Air festival's process of putting local rock bands as headliners has acted as a springboard for several groups. After several residents complained in 2012 that the festival did not cater to their genre, the organisers decided to ask hip-hop groups to participate in the event.
From 17:30 until 22:00, teenagers will be invited to compete in a hip hop quiz or learn to write their own rap, whilst a graffiti workshop will be offered to those looking to unleash their inspiration on a wall in a legal environment. For the more energetic, a dance workshop will be provided.
From early evening, the public will be able to discover hip hop artists Eskendo and De Charel.
