The Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has announced the line-up for July festivals Rock um Knuedler and world music festival MeYouZik.

With the approach of the summer festival season, the LCTO will be bringing back two free entry outdoor music events this July to the city centre.

Saturday 16 July 2016 - World Music Festival MeYouZik

The MeYouZik festival will feature three big names from the international music scene: Tritha Electric will be bringing ethno-punk tinted Indian sounds; Soweto Soul will be assembling musicians from all South African backgrounds; and Shantel will be performing the Balkan sound ("Disko Partizani") which has had thousands of people dancing in the biggest clubs in Europe.

These three headliner acts will perform on the Lion Stage at Place Guillaume II, alongside nine other groups: Velotronix; Imperial Kikiristan; Danainii; Eloïse et les Passeurs de Rêves; Bongomatik; Boogie-Jam; Eugene The Cat; Transylvania and La Dame Blanche. The festival aims to promote the discovery of music from all horizons to bring the listener on a journey of new sounds and different cultures.

The weekly market will take place as usual at Place Guillaume II between 08:00 and 13:30 before the start of the festival.

Sunday 17 July 2016 - Rock um Knuedler

Rock um Knuedler will be celebrating its 26th anniversary with headliner Marlon Roudette and seventeen local rock groups.

"When The Beat Drops Out", "New Age" and "Anti Hero" saw London singer Marlon Roudette release some of the major titles of the 21st century. A former member of Mattafix, Marlon Roudette became known through the duo's top hit "Big City Life" before embarking on solo tours from 2011 and recording albums "Matter Fixed" and "Electric Soul".

Marlon Roudette cites his musical inspirations as Gregory Isaacs, Massive Attack, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, Sade and Christopher Cross, describing his music as a mixture of pop and reggae.

The tradition of highlighting Luxembourg rock acts will see locals Eric Maas, Velotronix, The Kooters, Kevin Heinen, Birdbones, Ice in my Eyes, DFXX, Redhills, Fluyd, Scarlet Anger, The Filthy Broke Billionaires, Versus You, Marc Welter's Joint Bunch, First H, Go By Brooks, Daniel Balthasar and Fox perform on stage.

The number of spectators allowed on Place Guillaume II will be limited for security reasons. Spectators will be informed in good time.
