On Monday 23 March 2026, Lëtzebuerger Rousefrënn announced that the rose garden at Château de Munsbach will be expanded by the non-profit association and the Municipality of Schuttrange.

According to Lëtzebuerger Rousefrënn, to make space for additional roses and perennials at the Roseraie Château de Munsbach, the Municipality of Schuttrange will begin work in the summer to expand the rose garden by two further beds. The unique rose garden boasts more than 700 carefully selected roses and hosts numerous activities for rose enthusiasts.

The Roseraie Château de Munsbach, opened in 2017 in the park of Château de Munsbach and was awarded the “Award of Garden Excellence” by the World Federation of Rose Societies. It has gone on to become an integral part of the Municipality of Schuttrange and is maintained by volunteers from the Lëtzebuerger Rousefrënn.

Lëtzebuerger Rousefrënn reported that on Thursday 19 March 2026, Schuttrange’s Mayor Claude Marson announced the development at an event at the An der Dällt Cultural Centre in Munsbach. “The Municipality is very pleased with the wide range of activities organised by the Lëtzebuerger Rousefrënn and their events, which promote social cohesion,” said Mayor Marson.

At the event President of the Lëtzebuerger Rousefrënn, Maryse Weirig-Hensel, warmly thanked the Municipality of Schuttrange, the Public Buildings Administration, the volunteer helpers of the Rousefrënn and the association’s board for their active support. She noted that her enthusiasm for the rose garden and the diverse activities of the Lëtzebuerger Rousefrënn remain unbroken.

According to the association, in 2025 around 140 people took part in pruning courses, with high interest shown for the naming of roses. These included the christening of the Europa Donna rose as an ambassador in the fight against breast cancer, with former Grand Duchess Maria Teresa as godmother, as well as the O’Limprose christening, which recalled the roots of the national rose’s heritage in Limpertsberg.

Members of the public can access the Roseraie Château de Munsbach on Sunday 7 June, as part of Oppe Gaardepäertchen and Rendez-vous aux Jardins, and again on Sunday 28 June, when the Lëtzebuerger Rousefrënn will invite guests to its popular “Scones & More” event. The Rose Festival will also take place on Sunday 20 September at the Roseraie Château de Munsbach.
