Emweltberodung Lëtzebuerg (EBL) has announced that the Gutt Geschier library of borrowing tools has been officially launched at Facilitec in Esch-sur-Alzette (37B rue de la Fontaine).

Individuals and associations can rent tools there free-of-charge to carry out their DIY and gardening work: this is the first implementation of this initiative which is part of the concept of a circular economy and sharing.

Do you need to redecorate the living room?

Do you want to transform the lawn into a vegetable garden?

Do you want to fix a new shelf in the kitchen?

If you do not already have the necessary tools, Gutt Geschier might have what you need.

Tools collected in part from individuals, resource centres and companies now constitute a pooled stock. After verification, they are reintroduced into the circuit of future users through an online reservation system. In this way, they fully live their life cycle and help to avoid the purchase and manufacture of new tools as well as unnecessary consumption of energy and resources.

Many of us occasionally need tools to do small jobs around the house. Over the years, this is how we accumulate a large number of tools that we have purchased for these purposes. Some, however, will only be used for a very short time. Many of these tools full of precious resources (metals, wood, plastic, etc.) spend more time gathering dust in our cellar/garage than serving what they were designed for. It is therefore interesting to optimise their use by pooling them and serving everyone.

Gutt Geschier is an initiative that aims to reduce waste, stimulate repair and create an alternative to consumerism.

Those interested can choose and reserve tools online and then come and collect them from Facilitecfor a period of 7 days.
