An information session on 15 October 2015 at the Chambre des Métiers will aim to offer artisans of the food industry advice on how to benefit the environment by reducing water consumption.

As part of the 'Betriber & Emwelt' programme, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and the Environmental Administration have collaborated with the Chambre des Métiers and the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure to offer butchers, delicatessen owners and caterers practical advice on steps that can be taken to reduce water consumption and optimise the treatment of wastewater.

Mastering water consumption is a real challenge in the food trade sector. Wastewater costs are high whilst detergents also pose a problem as they disturb the proper functioning of wastewater treatment installations and plants.

The briefing, entitled 'Food Processing: How to Reduce Your Water Consumption and Optimise Wastewater Treatment', has been organised as part of the 'Betriber & Ëmwelt' programme developed by the Environmental Administration (AEV) and LIST, which aims to offer a series of informative sessions on environmental topics to businesses and public structures.

The session will be held at 12:00 on Thursday 15 October 2015 at the Circuit de la Foire Internationale in Kirchberg and will offer presentations from the Administration of Water Management and National Centre of Innovation for Sustainable Development and Environment in Small Enterprises (CNIDEP).
