The City of Luxembourg has invited all available citizens to participate in a mass cleaning effort which will take place this Saturday 27 June 2015 at 10:00 am.
Volunteers will take part in the cleaning of the Kinnekswiss, an area of 1.6 ha in the main area of the municipal park in the heart of the capital. Citizens are being encouraged to offer their help to the project inorder to contribute to the cleanliness of the parks and other meeting areas in the city they themselves inhabit.
Every day, the City sends out a team from the Service d'Hygiene to clear up the area, as well as a group from the Service des Parcs on Saturdays and Sundays who help maintain the Kinnekswiss.
The City has therefore started the campaign 'Grouss Botz' ('Big Clean-Up') as a means of raising public awareness of environmental issues, as well as show an appreciation of the valuable work done by members of the Hygiene and Parks services.
In addition, it is hoped that communal efforts from people of all ages and origins to clear a public space will reflect the multiculturalism of Luxembourg's capital.
The City will provide hot drinks and croissants on site and a small gift will be offered to participants afterwards to thank them for their commitment.
Those wishing to volunteer are advised to wear sturdy shoes.
