FairFashion, the first national textile fair for sustainable fashion, will be open at the Al Seeërei cultural centre in Diekirch on the 26th and 27th June 2015.
Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg, Caritas, Mouvement écologique, ASTM and Weltbuttek Diekirch have all collaborated to produce the FairFashion foire, the first of its kind in Luxembourg. The campaign has assembled multiple exhibitors from Germany to present their collections, with the aim of promoting social and environmental responsibility in textile production and purchasing.
In addition, other materials such as fashion accessories, home textiles and baby clothing will be available to buy and will contribute to the conscientious campaign.
Viewers will be taken on a journey from cotton plant to finished garment, with the aid of exhibitions such as that of Silver Camera photography prize winner Marieke van der Velden, whose project titled "I Make Your Clothes!: The Strong Women from Southeast Asia" examined the lives of nine women from textile mills in Cambodia and Bangladesh.
Food and drink will be available, courtesy of "Au Bon Marché".
