Luxembourg's statistics agency Statec and the Ministry of Justice have confirmed that 96 companies were declared bankrupt and another 88 were liquidated in February 2022.
Last month, the Luxembourg courts declared a total of 96 bankruptcies (down from 100 in January 2022 and 98 in February 2021). A third of the 196 bankruptcies in January and February 2022 concerned holding companies and investment funds, and nearly one-in-five (19%) concerned trade.
The Luxembourg courts also declared the liquidation of 88 companies in February 2022 and 82 in January 2022, slightly below the average number of 91 liquidations pronounced per month in 2021. As with bankruptcies, the companies most affected by liquidations in January and February 2022 are holding companies and investment funds (63 liquidations or 37% of the total) and those from the trade branch (35 liquidations or nearly 21% of the total).
