On the initiative of the Ministry of the Economy, the National Hoteliers, Restauranteurs and Café Operators Federation (Horesca) has created a quality label for drinking establishments in Luxembourg.

The label, designated for pubs, cafés or bars, aims to highlight the quality of these institutions, in order to enhance the sector's image and make it a key selection criterion for those wishing to frequent the establishment.

The so-called 'Wëllkomm' label was presented on Friday 20 November in the presence of Secretary of State for the Economy, Francine Closener. Participating institutions sign an agreement and commit to respecting quality criteria in the areas of service, food hygiene and sustainable development.

The Ministry of the Economy may grant financial assistance to drinking establishments which comply to the requirements of the new quality label. Over the next three years, these institutions may benefit from an aid scheme capped at €15,000 for a total investment of €100,000, for example in the case of upgrading a kitchen.

Only investments for less than two years will be held. Requests for this form of assistance should be send to the Directorate General of SMEs and Entrepreneurship of the Ministry of the Economy. For more information, visit http://www.horesca.lu/en/motivation
