(L-R): Anne Faber, Christine Faber;

On Saturday 1 June 2019, the Librarie Alinea bookstore on Rue Beaumont in Luxembourg city hosted a book-signing for Anne Faber and her latest culinary publication entitled "Tastes of Luxembourg".

Anne Faber's cookery books are well-known, as are her cookery videos. This time, though, as she informed Chronicle.lu at the launch, she has focussed on 20 traditional Luxembourg recipes and given then a special "Twist".

She explained that she got her inspiration while on the Heathrow Express in London and thought that there are no cookery books on the market that focus entirely on traditional Luxembourgish cuisine.

With Anne herself producing the recipes and doing all the photography, this was a family affair with her sister Christine responsible for all the hand lettering, with Neha Poddar as the book designer. The foreward of the book is concise yet complete - it refers to Luxembourgish cuisine influenced by its neighbours, resulting in French-style cuisine with German-sized portions; she also refers to the Luxembougish wines and crémants, as well as to the "fantastic schnapps, honey, cheese and mustard" from the Grand Duchy.

So, if you have ever wanted to try Bouneschlupp (soup with beans and sausage), Judd mat Gaardebounen (pork with broad beans), Flammkuchen, Kachkéis Kniddelen (vegetarian dumplings) or Gromperekichelcher - which Anne proposes in a unique Cordon Bleu style - *Tastes of Luxembourg" is now available at bookstores in the Grand Duchy. There are also some signed copies left at Librarie Alinea too...

A lovely touch to the book launch on Saturday was, apart from the complementary glasses of crémant for all those present, biscuits cut in the shape of a map of Luxembourg, decorated with the icing in the three colours of the Luxembourg flag.
