On 15 and 16 April 2016, choreographer Tao Ye will be bringing his untitled performance to audiences at Luxembourg City's Grand Théâtre.
Tao Ye dispenses with titles for his pieces, instead opting for numbers as distinguishing features in a bid to relieve the audience of preconceptions and enable them to transcend the duality of abstract versus concrete thought. In '6 & 7', the choreographer finds reverence for the body in the ritualistic, a steady process of accumulating, sculpting and exploring dissolving linear limitations.
"No specific words can express the meaning of tonight's performance," Tao Ye has previously commented. "Rather, these pieces are permeated with our conceptions of 'the body' and physical practice. So what your eyes perceive is exactly what our hearts hope to express."
The TAO Dance Theater was created in 2008 and has since performed in every modern dance festival throughout China, as well as further afield in countries such as Belgium, Switzerland, the US, the Netherlands and the UK.
Performances will take place at 20:00 on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 April 2016 in the Studio of the Grand Théâtre, 1 Rond Point Schuman L-2525 Luxembourg City. Tickets cost 20€ for adults, 8€ for children and are free with a Kulturpass. To purchase tickets, click here.
