On Tuesday, Luxembourg professional cyclist Bob Jungels raced to the top of the general classification in the first of this year's grand tours, the Giro d'Italia.
The three week event started on 6 May, with the overall winner to be horoured at the end of the last stage on Sunday 29 May.
23 year-old Bob Jungels is riding for the Etixx - Quick Step team; in Tuesday's Stage 10, he finished in 15th position, 2 mins 15 secs behind the stage winner, Giulio CICCONE. In the general classification (for the Pink Jersey) he is 26 seconds ahead of Andrey Amador (Russia) of the Movistar team.
Luxembourg's Minister of Sport, Romain Schneider, send a telegram of congratulations to Bob Jungels, in which he warmly congratulated the champion cyclist for his outstanding performance at the start of the Tour of Italy 2016, with repeated exploits that have propelled him to the top of the standings after the 10th stage which ended today in the hills of Sestola in Emilia-Romagna.
The message stated "Nearly 60 years after the first pink jersey conquered by the unforgettable Charly Gaul after his historic ride on Monte Bondone, here again a Luxembourg rider dressed in pink on the roads of the Giro, Congratulations Bob! My best wishes to you, dear Bob, for your future life in pink in this 99th Giro d'Italia! "
