Luxembourg’s Nations League Squad: Martins Out, 4 BGL Ligue Players

On Friday 18 September 2026, Luxembourg men’s national football team head coach Jeff Strasser announced his squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches at the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) headquarters in Mondercange.

The Red Lions will play four matches over eleven days, starting with a home fixture against Iceland on Saturday 26 September. Luxembourg will then travel to Plovdiv to face Bulgaria at the Hristo Botev Stadium on Tuesday 29 September, before heading to Tallinn for an away match against Estonia on Saturday 3 October. The team will conclude this series of matches against Bulgaria at the Stade de Luxembourg on Tuesday 6 October.

Jeff Strasser named 26 players, with Christopher Martins a notable absentee. The midfielder, who helped Luxembourg secure victory over Malta in the UEFA Nations League play-offs in late March 2026 to retain their place in League C, will miss the upcoming matches due to injury. The head coach said he expects Christopher Martins to return for the November fixtures.

The squad includes goalkeepers Lucas Fox (Bremer SV, Germany), Tim Kips (1. FC Phönix Lübeck, Germany), Anthony Moris (Al-Khaleej, Saudi Arabia) and Tiago Pereira (RAAL La Louvière, Belgium).

In defence, the selected players are Florian Bohnert (FC Hansa Rostock, Germany), Dirk Carlson (Dinamo Batumi, Georgia), Laurent Jans (SK Beveren, Belgium), Seid Korac (Hellas Verona, Italy), Enes Mahmutovic (Dinamo Batumi, Georgia), Marvin Martins (FK Liepaja, Latvia), Vahid Selimovic (Iberia 1999 Tbilisi, Georgia) and Eric Veiga (FC Atert Bissen, Luxembourg).

Midfield options include Leandro Barreiro (SL Benfica, Portugal), Tomás Cruz (Bodrum FK, Turkey), Enzo Dos Santos (Borussia Dortmund, Germany), Miguel Fernandes (Fortuna Düsseldorf, Germany), Mathias Olesen (Sønderjyske Fodbold, Denmark), Danel Sinani (UC Sampdoria, Italy) and Olivier Thill (UN Käerjeng 97, Luxembourg).

In attack, Jeff Strasser has selected Aiman Dardari (Rot-Weiss Essen, Germany), Hamza Kadamani (FC Metz, France), Omar Natami (FC UNA Strassen, Luxembourg), Timothé Rupil (Helsingborgs IF, Sweden), Sébastien Thill (FC Differdange 03, Luxembourg), Vincent Thill (SV Waldhof Mannheim, Germany) and Jayson Videira (1. FSV Mainz 05, Germany).

The head coach explained that the four-match schedule had influenced his decision to select 22 outfield players and four goalkeepers. “Today, we have four matches in a short period of time,” Jeff Strasser said. The additional goalkeeper will help with training sessions, while two extra outfield players will provide cover across positions. He added that he did not want the squad to become too large during an intensive period together.

The head coach also welcomed the return to action of midfielder Mathias Olesen, who had not played for Danish club Sønderjyske since early August. Olesen played one half in a Danish Cup match on Wednesday 16 September.

The squad includes four players from Luxembourg’s BGL Ligue: Eric Veiga, Olivier Thill, Omar Natami and Sébastien Thill. Discussing the selection of locally based players, Jeff Strasser said: “It is always good to be able to count on players who know the group and also know how the national team operates.” He added that debutant Omar Natami from UNA Strassen had been selected for his attacking qualities and versatility, including his ability to play centrally or out wide.

An FLF representative also reported that approximately 6,800 tickets had already been sold for Luxembourg’s home match against Iceland, which will take place at the Stade de Luxembourg on Saturday 26 September at 20:45.
