French cyclist Arnaud Démare won stage 2 of the Skoda Tour Luxembourg cycling race yesterday.

The Skoda Tour Luxembourg, formerly known as the Tour de Luxembourg, is being held from 15 to 19 September 2020.

Italian cyclist Diego Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates) won the first stage on Tuesday, finishing the 133.5 km race in 3:13:15. He was followed in second place by Belgium's Amaury Capiot (Sport Vlaanderen) and in third place by Romanian Eduard-Michael Grosu (Delko-Nippo).

The second stage of the Skoda Tour Luxembourg, held yesterday, was suspended after cyclists went on strike mid-race. Participants complained about heavy traffic and parked cars which they felt posed a safety risk. Such concerns, which participants had already made known after the first stage, led to the race being interrupted late yesterday morning after 18km of racing. The race resumed 40km before the finish line in Hesperange.

French rider Arnaud Démare (Groupama–FDJ) emerged victorious, having finished the 160.8 km circuit from Remich to Hesperange in 50:06. He was followed by Belgium's Jasper Philipsen (UAE Team Emirates) in second place and Germany's Alexander Krieger (ProTeam Alpecin–Fenix) in third place.

Diego Ulissi retained his position as overall leader of the race.

The third stage, which runs 164.3 km from Rosport to Schifflange, is taking place today, Thursday 17 September 2020.
