Curling Luxembourg has announced that the finals of the National Doubles Championship 2019/20 will take place this Saturday 29 February and Sunday 1 March 2020 at the Kockelscheuer Ice Rink.
The Championship is open for teams composed of two women, two men or one woman and one man. Games will be played under the (mixed) doubles rules of the World Curling Federation (WCF) and in the Spirit of Curling.
A round robin (all-play-all), as well as a gold and bronze final is scheduled. The six teams set to play in these finals are as follows:
Team 1: Aljaz Pengov-Bitenc and Alex Benoy
Team 2: Barry Foulds, Omar Ramirez-Sanchez and Volker Beba (3-4 games for each player)
Team 3: Virginie Hansen and Maelle Warin
Team 4: Dan Kelly and Claude Schweitzer
Team 5: Philippe Giltaire and Mike Isenor
Team 6: Ali Khaleghi and Karen Wauters
Each match is scheduled at a maximum of six ends (after 45 minutes: completion of the end plus one end).
Round robin classification: points, direct confrontation (if same points), ends, positive stones, negative stones.
If two or more teams have the same number of points for the gold or bronze-final qualification, the two team players will play a last stone draw to determine the winning team.
All players and supporters can participate in the prize-giving and friendship drink on the Curling VIP-Balcony after the finals.
Entry is free for spectators.
