On Friday 6 November 2026, standup comedian and writer Jess Bauldry will perform Read The Room, a standup comedy show about books, words and what happens to writers when no one reads any more, at Le Croque Bedaine, Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.

The show, which begins at 20:00, will see Jess Bauldry share some of her stories, unpacks the obsession that led her straight into a life of poverty, self-sabotage, and unpaid emotional labour, and pays tribute to the best friends we will ever have: books.

Expect audience participation, unwilling amateur readings, and a lot of silliness.

The show is described as being for anyone who has ever been rejected by a journal, a publisher, or just their own mother. For anyone working on ten novels at any given time, none of them finished, and anyone who prefers books to people but, deep down, still hasn't read all the books either.

The show will also feature performances from US comedian Erin Crouch with MC Enkelejd Memetaj.

Tickets cost €8.00.

About the artist

Jess Bauldry holds a Master's degree and a Bachelor's degree, both spectacularly useless, and channels them into writing anything that will sit still long enough, short stories, plays, strongly-worded shopping lists, all in the hope that one day she will finish something. And publish it. And then, in a plot twist nobody saw coming, find people willing to read it. In the meantime, she has settled for the stage instead of the page: at least a comedy audience laughs at the unfinished stuff on purpose.

Sharpen your storytelling

Additionally, Jess Bauldry will host a two-day workshop On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November at the Rainbow Center in Luxembourg-Ville.

The two-day workshop is designed for storytellers of all levels who want to refine and elevate their craft, deepening emotional impact, exploring subtlety, and mastering the art of resonance.

Across two immersive days, you’ll work with your own stories to:

⁃ Develop performance skills;

⁃ Explore how sensory detail, metaphors, story structure and specificity can increase engagement in a story;

⁃ Craft powerful hooks and payoffs: open and close your stories with purpose.

Through guided exercises, feedback, and performance practice, you’ll learn to make deliberate artistic choices that move your audience on a deeper level.

Whether you tell stories on stage, in the classroom, or in everyday life, this workshop will help you find the emotional heartbeat of your storytelling voice.

The workshop will take place in English and tickets cost €70 (early bird) and €80 (regular price).

The workshop is organised by Festrogen Festival with the support of Rosa Letzebuerg.
