Mayor of Walferdange, Francois Sauber, inaugurating the Marcel Sauber Cricket Pavilion;

On Saturday 22 June 2024, the Optimists Cricket Club officially inaugurated their new pavilion (club house) at the Pierre Werner Cricket Ground in Walferdange.
The Mayor of Walferdange, Francois Sauber, along with council members Jessie Thill, Michel Feidt, Romain Breuer and Helga Krecke-Mardetschlager attended for the formal part of the celebration, along with many Optimists members and supporters.
Either side of the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon and the official opening of the new pavilion , a 50-overs cricket match was played between the Captains XI and the Chairmans XI.
