The Luxembourg Cricket Federation has announced that it will be hosting a cricket tournament for under 15s against teams from Switzerland and Belgium, this weekend on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 February in Schuttrange (Sportshall 1, Campus an der Dällt, 185 rue Principale).
Principally a game played in the summer, cricket is also a thriving indoor sport, and the Luxembourg Cricket Federation runs a winter programme for all age groups. After recent growth, there are now nearly 110 youth cricketers in Luxembourg and this has encouraged the federation to host an U15 tournament. This will be the first international indoor cricket tournament held in Luxembourg.
The Luxembourg U15 national team will play the following games against these select teams from Switzerland and Belgium:
Saturday 18 February
08:30 vs Swiss Fire
09:50 vs Swiss Stars
12:30 vs Swiss Rockets
Sunday 19 February
13:50 vs Belgium Yellow
16:30 vs Belgium Red
Games start at 08:30 both days, running until 19:00 on Saturday and 18:00 on Sunday.
Spectators are welcome; entry of free-of-charge. Drinks will be available to buy.
Harpal Virdee, Head of the Luxembourg Cricket Federation Juniors programme said: "This tournament rewards the efforts of our U15 cricketers and their coaches, who continue to work hard on their game indoors as well as outdoors.”
