At the end of the 21st edition of Triathlon Wämper which brought together some eight hundred athletes to Weiswampach on 20 and 21 August, the organising team, in the presence of Mayor Rinnen Henri, presented a €1,000 cheque to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde.
The Luxembourg association warmly thanked all those who have joined this year in this beautiful solidarity action, starting with the organisers of the Triathlon Wämper which for four years now, has generously supportted SOS projects whose main sponsor is BCEE. SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde was present at this major sporting event, holdinga face-painting booth towards the younger attendees.
The €1,000 raised this year will be awarded for SOS educational projects launched in Guinea, a country where the literacy rate of 25-64 years is less than 30%.
Providing access to quality education and lifelong learning is, therefore, a priority. This is the meaning of SOS's commitment that, next to its infrastructure (3 SOS Kindergartens and 6 SOS schools for two thousand pupils), develops programmes focused on the protection of the child enshrined in the line of Sustainable Development Goals. These actors strengthen public education, communities and families to furnish young people with a solid background and thus ensure their independence and decent employment. SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde supports 3,500 children and nine hundred families in Guinea.
