The 15th edition of Luxembourg's "Journée de l'Economie" (day of the economy; JEcolux 2022) will take place face-to-face on Tuesday 28 March 2022 (venue to be confirmed).

Organised by Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and FEDIL – The Voice of Luxembourg’s Industry, in cooperation with PwC Luxembourg, JEcolux 2022 will shed light on the following question: "Facing the crisis: where do we stand and what's next for Luxembourg?"

Since early 2020, the whole world has been affected by a health crisis with far-reaching consequences on the economy. The COVID-19 pandemic turned everything upside down, changed the way everyone lived and transformed the economic landscape. The crisis was unprecedented as well as global and this was a complete change from previous crises.

Where are we now, two years after the first major lockdown? How has the world (and Luxembourg in particular) responded to the crisis and what are its consequences? What lessons can be drawn for the future?

After two years of tunnel vision, marked by uncertainty and doubt, JEcolux 2022 will be taking a look back and making a strategic assessment of the situation. Together and with renowned international guests, participants will reflect on what the future and the world have in store.

JEcolux 2022 will feature economists, historians, government representatives (including Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, and other representatives from the Ministry of the Economy), several private-sector representatives and a number of other international speakers who have researched and studied various aspects of the current crisis and previous crises and who have also looked into possible future ones.

The event will have two major highlights:

- The morning will focus on the pandemic’s economic and social impacts at global and local level. Participants will ask themselves what lessons can be drawn from the crisis and look at the measures and best practices that were implemented as a result of the pandemic. The analysis will be conducted at both the macroeconomic and microeconomic level

- In the afternoon, the event will look to the future. First, participants will place the COVID-19 crisis in a historical context and ask themselves why this crisis was so unexpected. Do governments and companies need to get better at anticipating crises (and, if so, how?) and / or do they need to work on improving their resilience? Finally, a large panel made up of decision makers and representatives from the public and private sector will drill down into the key lessons learned for the future of the Grand Duchy and that of its companies.

The conference will be held in English and French. The full list of speakers will be disclosed soon.
