The Luxembourg School of Business (LSB) has announced that it will host a keynote address and panel discussion titled "The Past and Future of Sustainable Economic Growth" at Le Royal Hotel Luxembourg on Thursday 9 July 2026 from 18:00 to 21:00.

The event will feature Professor Joel Mokyr, recipient of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, who will discuss the relationship between technological innovation, strong institutions, open economies and long-term economic prosperity. According to LSB, the lecture will offer insights into the drivers of sustainable economic growth and their relevance to Luxembourg and the wider region.

The event will also mark the inauguration of the new LSB – KU Leuven Doctoral Programme (PhD in Business Administration), with Professor Joel Mokyr becoming its inaugural patron. The proceedings will include presentations by Professor Patrick Vanhoudt, Dean of the Luxembourg School of Business, and Professor Kristof De Witte of KU Leuven.

Luxembourg's Minister of Labour, Marc Spautz, is scheduled to deliver opening remarks before Professor Mokyr's keynote address. The programme will conclude with a panel discussion and networking session.
