On Tuesday 10 November 2020, the Luxembourg Trade & Investment Office (LTIO) in Casablanca, Morocco, will hold an inaugural webinar in what will be the first in a series of webinars that will be held over the coming months to introduce each of the 9 offices of the LTIO network around the world.

Organised jointly via Zoom by the Ministry of the Economy and the Chamber of Commerce, the inaugural online ceremony aims to raise awareness and inform Luxembourg and Moroccan companies about the services of this new office, the first of the LTIO network to open in Africa. During this webinar, which begins at 10:00 CET and will include the participation of Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, the concrete assistance that LTIO-Casablanca can provide to businesses will be detailed through a business testimony. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to submit their questions in a question-and-answer session following the webinar.

The mission of a Luxembourg Trade & Investment Office is two-fold and covers the two aspects of foreign trade which are "promotion" (trade) on the one hand and "attraction of investments" (invest), on the other hand. The LTIO supports Luxembourg companies in their conquest of a foreign market. Concretely, this support for Luxembourg companies consists of advising on the local business environment, providing information on the conditions for entering the market, putting in contact with the local authorities in charge of setting up companies, introducing them to business networks and facilitating contacts with possible local business partners.

For companies wishing to set up in Luxembourg, the assistance offered by the LTIOs takes the form of information on the general business environment in Luxembourg and any specific sectoral public policies, the organisation of tailor-made visits and practical assistance in setting up a business in Luxembourg, access to key stakeholders in Luxembourg, such as public institutions, promotion agencies, incubators, etc., facilitating contacts with possible business partners and providing information on immigration and visa matters.

The international economic promotion network has existed since 1986. It has gradually expanded and now has 9 offices in Abu Dhabi, Casablanca, New York, San Francisco, Shanghai, Seoul, Taipei, Tel Aviv and Tokyo. In the context of the health crisis/pandemic, where travel abroad has been severely restricted, the services of LTIO offices have become increasingly important in facilitating the internationalisation of companies and helping them find business opportunities abroad. This is why this inaugural webinar will be followed by a series of other similar events, where each LTIO office will present itself individually to Luxembourg companies interested in the market in which the office is established.
