On Tuesday, BGL BNP Paribras closed its centennial celebrations with the conference "Sustainable development, our responsibility for the future".

Following a welcome speech by Geoffroy Bazin, Chairman of the BGL BNP Paribas Executive Committee, the evening's programme began with a speech by Dr. Bertrand Piccard on "#1000solutions to protect the environment in a profitable way" and the screening of the video of his world tour with Solar Impulse 2, a plane powered entirely by solar energy.

Consequently, "Sustainable development: a key challenge for companies' strategic and decision-making processes" was at the heart of discussions between Valérie Arnold (Partner, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Leader at PwC Luxembourg), René Winkin (Director of FEDIL) and Antoine Sire (Head of Corporate Engagement and member of the BNP Paribas Group Executive Committee).

All speakers discussed the dynamics that need to be accelerated in order to collectively respond to the major and unprecedented challenges of climate change and increasing inequalities.

The conference, which ended with the closing speech by Luxembourg's Minister of Finance, Pierre Gramegna, marked the end of BGL BNP Paribas' 100th anniversary celebrations.
