The 18th Meeting of the Society of Natural Immunity (SNI), or "NK 2019", will be taking place from Monday 30 September to Thursday 3 October 2019 at Parc Hôtel Alvisse in Luxembourg (120 Route d’Echternach, L-1453).
500 scientists will be gathering in Luxembourg next week to discuss new findings and methods for combatting diseases such as cancer or infections. Scientific discussions will revolve around so-called natural killer cells (NK cells), a special blood and tissue cells of the immune system. These are able to attack body cells that have become diseased following cancer or infections and eliminate them. Experts expect the latest research results on NK cells to present new possibilities for cures in the near future.
The event will be inaugurated by Dr. Jean-Claude Schmit, Director of Health, Prof. Ulf Nehrbass, CEO of the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), Dr. Sean Sapcariu from the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), Prof. Adelheid Cerwenka, President of the SNI, and Dr. Tatiana Michel from the LIH.
NK 2019 is organised by the LIH in partnership with the SNI and supported by the FNR through its funding instrument "RESCOM - Scientific events".
