Thirty-three teams took part this weekend in the second edition of Game of Code, a “hackathon” organised by IT One, Docier Holding and Digital Lëtzebuerg at the Forum Geesseknäppchen, bringing together150 designers and developers for two days of challenges, conferences and 24 straight hours of coding.

"We are delighted to have, since the very beginning, believed in this project especially in its ability to bring together so many talents and IT professionals in one place. Combining the skills of everyone has allowed unprecedented creativity in just 24 hours of development," said Marton Fulop, COO of Docler Holding.

The teams faced two challenges. A Distorted Reality Challenge, designed by Docler Holding, focused on augmented and virtual reality and was won by team New Folder, while team Whatever took the Open Data Challenge, designed by Digital Lëtzebuerg, which asked participants to address the question of quality of life in the future.

The winning teams received vouchers for elvoline.com, an online hotel booking site, and VIP tickets for the ICT Spring and the gala dinner of the event. Codimeo, a team of 13-year-olds, and Division Zero from Docler Holding took third and second places for the Distorted Reality Challenge, while Sigi and Semantic Cube were the runners-up for the Open Data Challenge.

The line-up also included a Hack4Kids session, gathering together 20 seven to twelve year olds for an introductory coding session.

"The teams of young developers, including the CoderDojo and the Code Club, gathering children of the average age of twelve, proved their talents with inventiveness and ingenuity. Training future generations in coding and IT is a key element of Luxembourg's success," said Melanie Delannoy, head of public relations at Docler Holding.
