On Thursday 17 December 2015, participants in the first four sessions of the Fit4Entrepreneurship course were honoured at the literary cafe Le Bovary, a place that was chosen as it constitutes one of the projects participating in the Fit4Entrepreneurship programme.
Led by the Chamber of Commerce, ADEM and the Chamber of Trades (Chambre des Métiers), and supported by the European Social Fund (ESF), the Fit4Entrepreneurship project trains and supports job-seekers who want to start a business project. Through a balance of skills, training programmes and individual coaching, it completes the entrepreneurial ecosystem as a new aid package for the creation of a company for jobseekers.
In his welcome address, Carlo Thelen, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, congratulated the 20 future entrepreneurs for their demonstrated motivation and involvement in the Fit4Entrepreneurship course. He recalled the various stages of the programme to identify job-seekers with real potential, to train them and support them in the realisation of their business idea. He placed the project in the context of a policy in favour of companies, including the need for skilled labour remains high. To this end, the Chamber of Commerce gives special priority to the establishment of a vocational training ecosystem conducive to learning throughout life, including the launch of the House of Training that has emerged recently. Mr. Thelen concluded by thanking the partners for their excellent cooperation, before congratulating the operational project teams, composed among others of trainers and entrepreneurs providing support for future entrepreneurs, for the work done since the launch of programme in January 2015.
During his address, Luxembourg's Minister of Labour and Employment, Nicolas Schmit, stressed the need to continue efforts in partnership with key actors such as the Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Crafts to make re-training to entrepreneurship one of the driving elements of a modernised and strengthened employment policy. He also reiterated the government's aim to stimulate cooperation between the economy and education, thus ensuring sustainable growth capable of boosting employment and reducing unemployment. Finally, he welcomed the efforts made by the three partners of the Fit4Entrepreneurship project to promote self-employment of the unemployed with eventual prospects of jobs through businesses created.
