On Sunday 11 December 2023, the Irish Club of Luxembourg (ICL) held their annual Children's Christmas Party at the Black Stuff Irish pub in Luxembourg-Pulvermuhl.
Over 60 children of ICL members and of the extended Irish community of Luxembourg attended the festive event, as well as a number of children of Ukrainian refugees living in Luxembourg whose children had heard of Santa Claus through mainly American films, etc.
The families entered Santa's Grotto one by one, with one of Santa's elves interpreting if and where necessary. Santa chatted with each child - quite a few of whom brought letters from him along with them, and a few of whom recited songs, with some even having choreography. While the vast majority of children were delighted to see Santa, some were overcome by the occasion; nevertheless, all were presented gifts (offered by Cactus) by the old man in the red suit.
Upon exiting the grotto, all families could then enjoy snacks and drinks, including fruit, cakes, crisps and sweets.
After it was all over, Santa made his way back onto the roof and with the aid of Rudolph and all the other reindeer, soared into the evening sky, making his way back home to the North Pole to prepare for the big delivery on Christmas Eve.
